I thought it would be a good idea to show what is growing in the sunflower field as of August 13th. The flowers are starting to blossom but the Sunflower Festival is going to be timed well since most of the flowers should be on in the next three weeks. The weather is not as hot and the sunflowers are getting a lot of water. I went back through the field and weeded. It took two days this time instead of ten which was so nice. Most of the sunflowers are tall enough to shade out the weeds. The dwarf varieties need the most care for weeding.
