We had a big week preparing the farm for the Fall Harvest Festival season opener this weekend. The corn mazes had to be groomed, roadways created, the parking areas prepared and pumpkins harvested. We also had to get the cow train and hay ride wagons ready. It was extremely challenging to say the least. Steve Dent from channel 6 news came and visited the farm and we were featured on the 5 o' clock news on Wednesday which was a wonderful surprise for us. With the loader breaking down, we were unable to get the straw bale maze set up for visitors for the opening weekend. Because a few of the attractions would not be ready for guests we decided to offer a 50% discount for those who would come out to the farm on the first weekend. Our Flaming Acres Grill was kept busy and the Farmers Market was a wonderful site to see. We still have beautiful sunflowers available for the picking and now our pumpkins are ripe for the picking too. The hayrides and cow train rolled along all weekend. The only downside was an unexpected wind storm in the late afternoon on Saturday which meant we had to close down early. We decided to drop our prices and add a discount price for kids 4-11 years old hoping this will make it easier on families to come to visit us. The photograph I am sharing is from Frances Fujii and expresses why we work so hard to do what we do everyday!
